"Missing Pieces" Series represents the pieces we--therapists, doctors, parents, and researchers--have yet to find: why autism develops and how to best help our children. To me, the puzzle piece does not represent the child with autism, but it does resonate with people as representing Autism Awareness.

The purpose of this series for me, as the artist, is to always be focused on how I may best serve the children and my field as a whole. Even in my art, do I wish to express & fulfill the needs of my field.

ALL proceeds of the series serve the autism community:
10% will go to TACA (Talk about Curing Autism);
50% will be reserved to provide free services (including art therapy, IEP advocacy, and behavioral support) to children of families who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford/qualify for such services; and the remaining
40% will go to helping young professionals in the field further their education in the "missing pieces of the Autism puzzle." It may cover the costs of textbooks on the subject, educational/conference fees, or training costs.

I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to children, especially not those on the Autism Spectrum. We need to do all that we can to collaborate therapies and treatment so that the best methods can be utilized in conjunction to reach the child.

I believe there is a light that shines in these children, that is muted by their struggles with communication and behavior. If we can treat the underlying causes of behavior, and teach them effective communication skills, the brilliant light emerges permanently. Not only do I believe this, but I am a witness to it. Autism is treatable.
